I saw server error and my server was getting slow. I checked apache log files in /var/log/httpd and error log shows following error at the end of line:

server reached MaxClients setting, consider raising the MaxClients setting
But I dont see there was any spike in traffic then why I get this error? How I determine right number of maxClients ?

May be your MaxClients settings is too low, consider raising it or show us your httpd.conf file.
