Drupal running slow on localhost WAMP windows 7

Hi

I have problem with drupal 7.12 installation. I am running a test site and have very limited number of modules installed and it is already running very slow. Page creation time takes lot and I think when I will move it online , it will be slow there too.

I have not enabled caching but there is no content in my site then why it is slow in local host , it is because Drupal is resource hungry without caching ?
