Best software to design a Professional Logo !

Not it is used for graphic designs too.Such as logo,banner,sig.....etc

But you forgot to cast vote in poll because I can only see my vote for photoshop.
I am also with Adob photoshop, one advantage photoshop is that you have help available for it very easily.

i always suggest you to use Adobe Illustrator CS5 its easy and you can design a professional logo if you use illustrator

Photoshop is clearly the best however this is only if you have the money. However if you're like me and can't afford it then GIMP is the best

There is no doubt that illustrator is the best software for designing logo's mainly due to the following reasons:

1. It makes vector graphics. Vector graphics can be scaled without any loss of quality whatsoever. Meaning that you dont see any jagged edges. Thats not true with photoshop where the graphics are pixel based.

2.  Illustrator has a ton of tools designed just for logos and other illustrations. PS is mainly for image editing.

3. You might consider corel draw as a option but in my mind, there is no serious competition to illustrator!
